Keynote Address of Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson

May it please Your Excellencies, Reverend Fathers, Deacons, my brother knights and ladies, permit me to begin with a special word of thanks to our two bishops: Bishop Spencer who has been such a dedicated brother knight in the many countries in which the ministry of the Archdiocese for Military Services is active as well as our brother knight Bishop Francis Yu who has done so much to bring the Knights of Columbus to Korea.

Remarks of Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson

Today we officially present the charter of St. Andrew Kim Daegon Council No. 16000 and St. Paul Chong Hosang Council No. 16,178. These councils are the first in Korea – in the Archdiocese of Seoul – and they are the first on the mainland of Asia. This is an historic day.

New Councils in Korea

In a historic ceremony that signaled the continued international expansion of the Knights of Columbus, Supreme Knight Carl Anderson presented charters for two new councils in Seoul, South Korea. Named for 19th-century Korean martyrs, the new councils are St. Andrew Kim Taegon Council No. 16000 and St. Paul Chong Hasang Council No. 16178.

The Knights of Columbus mourns the death of a great friend, Cardinal Francis E. George, archbishop emeritus of Chicago, who passed away April 17 after a prolonged and heroic bout with cancer.
